The Tape
Okay, so I made this post about having lost a fic, and here it is! I found it! Turns out I wrote it down by hand, I never had it on my computer. It is not beta read and I probably shouldn’t post it, but it’s 2 am and I’ve been working on this for hours, you might as well see it.
It’s Mystrade, G-rated, 1,000 words. It’s based on the beautiful prompt by @lilynevin “Are you crying?” – Enjoy.
They have
watched TV before.They’ve
already had sex, too. Quite a lot of it, actually. Mycroft has sucked him off on
their second date until Greg has seen stars. Greg reciprocated on their third
date. It has been a wild ride from there. Greg has stopped counting their
dates. They have been going out for four months now – four thrilling months of
getting to know Mycroft.Greg
learned about Mycroft’s tea collection, about the freckles on his thighs, that
he needs spectacles for reading and that he has his socks ironed. Mcroft has
started opening up, but it is a processs. Greg can see, sometimes, that there
are things troubling his lover, things that he cannot speak about. Mostly,
however, it is about small details. Greg learned that Mycroft has a cleaning
lady by accident as he walked in on her, wanting to surprise his boyfriend. It
was only when he prepared dinner the other night that Mycroft admitted he does
not like tomatoes.However,
when Mycroft asked him on a lazy Sunday, in the afterglow of soft morning sex,
whether Greg would like to watch a movie with him, he felt like it is a big
thing to Mycroft.
He knows the dialogue by heart.
@kalina-ionescu I adore this. Thank you for posting it 😭💕💜💙
“May I ask your name?” he said, awkwardly.
“I’m Scudder.”
“I know you’re Scudder. I meant your other name.”
“Only Alec, just.”
– Maurice, E.M. Forster
Listen I am having a number of cliché but very painful Feelings about this okay,
- Alec thinking Maurice had forgotten his name despite the night they’ve just spent together 😭😭😭
- The contrast between Maurice knowing and bothering to ask, and Mrs Durham forgetting Alec’s name after all his service 😭
- “awkwardly” 😭 Maurice please 😭
- That “just” which betrays (hidden) self-consciousness and class-consciousness so beautifully with one simple syllable 😭😭😭
