I love Lewis ‘The Mind Has Mountains’ so much because it’s such an uncomfortable episode…neither Lewis nor Hathaway particularly like or pity anyone in the case…they are kind of at sixes and sevens because Hathaway didn’t tell Lewis about Laura’s date…Lewis fully suspects Gansa of multiple murders/adultery but remains polite (ish). Death and moral corruption close in on all sides. The episode swirls almost aimlessly, still somehow tightening in tension and misery, until the point where Hathaway stands still in the hospital listening to Lewis talk about the experience he had with a shrink after Valerie died. Lewis finally uses the word ‘bias’, and things start to clear.
